This journey began with a pandemic peg leg project - a wooden art mosaic I created while recovering from my 3rd ankle surgery in the midst of the global shutdown. I cut, sanded, stained and assembled the piece all while using a hands-free crutch to support my non-weight bearing leg. It was my first ever project of it's kind, and I even purchased my miter saw from the COVID-19 government stimulus. Woodworking served as a therapeutic outlet during my recovery and was one of the few things that allowed me to feel productive while healing my leg (again) - not to mention kept me entertained while being cooped up at home. I was in the final stage of nail gunning the pieces to the back board when I made an unknown whoopsie of nailing the entire mosaic to my workbench (girl got too excited with her new nail gun and forgot to double check the nail length...I blame the pain meds). I ended up destroying the bench to save my piece (duh 💁🏻‍♀️), and the mosaic now lives on my mantel as a reminder of my hard work and perseverance.

After months of no workbench to create and no therapy (woodworking - or cardio for that matter), I finally decided to build myself a new work bench when I was crutch free and able to stand for longer periods of time. I YouTube’d how to do it, rented a Home Depot pickup truck to transport the materials, made my first ever pocket hole, and leveled the sh*t out of that thing to ensure it was perfect. Every angle was an exact 90 degrees (thanks to my new right angle clamp 😉) and that sucker doesn’t have a goddamn wobble in her.

Proud is an understatement and I was so thrilled to be back to making art again and doing what I love. And that's what it was, just doing something that I love and trying to stay sane in this unpredictable world we live in. I initially shared the story with family & friends, and received countless requests for me to make them a piece - so much so that I decided to start this humble hustle.

I can't promise you that I won't nail gun your new piece to my new workbench, but I can promise you that I will spend hours trying to perfect your piece of art. The process will keep me humble, and it will let my mind escape from the troubles of the world for awhile.

So thank you for letting me share my story with you, letting me to create for you, and letting me share my therapy with you. ❤️
